Is this that scene which apparently was just an actual take and they left it in because they thought it was hilarious?

Also this panel made me simultaneously elated and disgusted
On one hand, Connor Hawke! On the other, THAT’S Connor Hawke?
I mean the book itself is pretty diverse but damn.

It’s a difficult thing. Earth 2 does so much switching, whether it’s gender, sexuality or ethnicity. In a book where most of these changes are ” the good kind”, the one instance of Connor Hawke is what everyone gets angry about.

I do see your point. I mean, there’s all of these great strides forward in terms of representation: Red Tornado is a woman, Doctor Fate is Egyptian, Green Lantern is gay, the queen of Atlantis is brown (I initially thought she was black, but then Atlantis was located in the Philippine Sea so I’m not sure), the leader of the World Army is Sikh, it’s all really great! But while these are great, whitewashing is still disappointing because it’s kind of like taking two steps forward and then a step back, ya feel me?

Absolutely, my issue is that half of me feels “Damn, they whitewashed Connor” but the other half of me is like “well they change everybody in this comic sooo…”. Also props to changing Hawkgirl up a bit and introducing Val.
